About the program
The State Government’s new $2 million Digital Game Development Industry Fund will support game development companies with co-location facilities, a grant program and skills development.
The fund aims to drive business growth and increase export revenue and investment Australian games companies.
A Digital Game Development Industry Strategy will be developed with industry to grow the local digital games sector and help attract international game development and publishing companies to set up business in South Australia.
About the game development industry
South Australia is well placed to be an important player in the game development sector, with the global industry forecasted to grow at an annual rate of almost five per cent to reach more than $90 billion in turnover by 2020.
The game development industry is uniquely placed at the intersection of entertainment and technology, employing many STEM graduates – skills that can be transferred to other technology driven sectors of the economy including defence, mining and health.
It also boosts opportunities for creatives across film, music composition, screen writing and animation.
