The South Australian Broadband Research and Education Network (SABRENet) is the fibre optic network that connects more than 170 major research and education facilities, libraries, health centres, teaching hospitals, TAFEs, schools and government sites across South Australia.

Owned by the South Australian Government, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, and the University of South Australia, the fibre network extends over 250 kilometres and was created in 2003 to support the broadband needs of the local research and education community.

SABRENet, along with internet service providers and telecommunications companies, will implement new fibre connections to key innovation precincts as part of GigCity. This will happen in two stages across a four-year plan, funded by the Government of South Australia.
