South Australia has partnered with US Ignite’s Smart Gigabit Communities Program to launch Ignite SA – the first international smart gigabit community outside the United States.

A partnership between the State Government and the University of South Australia (UniSA), Ignite SA will use the GigCity Adelaide network to support entrepreneurs and start-ups to engage, collaborate and explore new gigabit application ideas.

IgniteSA will work closely with local and global companies including Microsoft, Dell, Optus, Cisco and eResearchSA to provide early stage start-ups and entrepreneurs with community support and access to smart technologies to develop applications for economic, social and community benefit.

Entrepreneurs and start-ups who work with Ignite SA will have access to nearly 20 communities that are part of the US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities Program , including Chattanooga, Tennessee and Adelaide’s sister city, Austin. This will create new opportunities for collaboration and sharing ideas.
